AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
Hi all.
A good idea (I think) burned in my head at the moment.
First, is there a program for transforming our own landscapes drawn in a 360 panoramic picture?
Then in Anime Studio 9.5, can we combine multiple panoramic images (png) to create both a panoramic and a parallax effect, for an incredible sensation of 3D depth?
Best regards.

The cylindrical projection used to create the impression of a 360° panorama mimics what you see when you pan and tilt and rotate a camera from one fixed point. The camera position is not moving at all. Parallax, on the other hand, only occurs when a camera changes position.

Re: AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
Hmm...
The panoramic script basically creates a 3D sphere object using the image as a surface texture. The resulting 3D layer object has a "size". You could theoretically have two of those layers, one smaller "inside the other", with the smaller one having transparent alpha channel to reveal the outer shape. So in theory the inner smaller shape would create a sort of "parallax" movement when the view is rotated.
... some time later Vern returns to the forum....
I tested this and it works sort of, but, unfortunately the PNG with transparency, doesn't display the transparency when it's made into a panoramic 3D layer. It will render correctly and show the larger pano image through the transparency, but in preview you can't see it.
So testing this or relying on preview to set up is nearly impossible. Rendering it works which at a minimum means that it could work if the transparency display could be updated... er... fixed?

Re: AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
funny, when I watched the webinar yesterday, this is the first thought I had about the panoramic script (layering reducing cyclinders containing paralax layers)
What would be amazing (in theory) is the ability to DRAW (or import drawings) a flat vector layer and reverse converting it into a 360 panorama... you could then set up a standard 2D (3D plane) paralax and convert it to a cylindrical environment (it's making my head hurt trying to work out whether this would really be useful? if nothing else it could be useful for setting up really versatile 'sets without edges'??)

I don't have 9.5, so is there a video online showing the effect?

Re: AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
Dude!
I was thinking the same thing!
Something like "particles" layer but it would be a panoramic 3D layer but would contain "flat drawn" vector layers. Imagine being able to ANIMATE one of those panoramic layers? Have multiple layered/layers in a pano group layer... thingy. So you have a "pano" layer like a group or particle layer. Inside are regular vector layers.
Anyway, that is a cool idea for a feature discussion.

Re: AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
I made this in Poser and photo shop using the warp meshRe: AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
Thank you for the reply guys, but I tried my idea and effectively there is a tranparency bug with PNG files, and unfortunately no effect of parallax done.
For those who are interested to create drawn based panoramics, I found three programs to do the treatment:
- Photoshop Photomerge
- Autopano Pro
- Panoweaver-8
Is there someone who knows free solution ?

Re: AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
Does that transparency bug inflict normal PNG layers?

Re: AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
I think the best way (at least for me) would be to draw the panorama in one image right away. I found a perpective grid
here: http://hugin.sourceforge.net/docs/manua ... ction.html. When I finally will finish my current project, I should be able to experiment a bit with this.
Some people are already doing this:

There should be more stuff on the net, just try and import these into AS, if it works, trace it!

Re: AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
If theres a way to take a spherical map and convert it to flat panoramic, there must be a way to reverse that? If you could draw a flat 360x180 view and convert it to spherical, you could use it with this script... right?
Re: AS 9.5 Panoramic + parallax ?
Wrong, I think. Of course you can transform back and forth indefinitely, but the result would be only correct for points, not for lines or planes. Also you can't draw a perspective background of indefinite length without using cylindrical perspective anyway.
