[HELP please] File doesn't open (AS 8.2), crash

Post by slowtiger »

This is the first time this happened to me. The file won't open, instead crashes AS without any error msg. In a text editor it doesn't look broken.

If anybody could give it a try, the file is here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/306 ... p.anme.zip
(Of course images and videos and sound are not there.)

And of course I have no former version, and this is the finished scene ready to be rendered for the client ...

I'm on 9.2 and can't open it either. Anyway, I can import the file to a new one. It's a weird problem, but that way at least you can have your layers back.

Seems to open fine in both 8.2 and 9.2. I'm running Windows XP on an older single core laptop. I didn't try rendering the whole thing, but it did render the last couple seconds okay. Could be mac related?

neeters_guy, could you open in 8.2, save it under a different name, zip it and send it back? (mail: slowtiger@snafu.de)

I had tried to duplicate it, rename it, and put it on different drives, all with no effect.

did you get this sorted? seems to open OK here too (windows AS9). I can have another go when back at base (tomorrow) on AS8 if not.

Sent. I noticed the file was a different size after resaving.

I couldn't open it. The "Bad File Header" error popped up but here's a youtube video about how to work around it.

Thank you so much! I owe you.

What I have now is a write-only file. I can open it, repair all references to external images, do stuff, export, and save it - but when I re-open it, the references are all gone again.

I opened it in BBedit to check: some references use the short path ("folder/file"), some the complete part ("user/drive/folder/folder/file"). Changing this in text mode doesn't help, it's only a secure way to crash AS again.

Comparing different versions of this file (I created lots) I noted differences in lines after "origin": "parent_bone" is sometimes set to -3, sometimes to -1; and "### group layer values" change "expanded true" to "false". I have no idea which value it should be.

So far this is the first AS file ever which behaved like this. All other files behave as they should, although they refer to the same image files in the same folder. But as a matter of caution I moved the whole project folder to another drive - have to finish the project until tomorrow ...
