?! Could Not Open File: Bad File Header ?!

Post by drumlug13 »

Ok before I panic ....
PC froze up, rebooted. Tried to open the file I was working on and a warning pop up says "Could Not Open File. Error Details: Bad File Header"

When I open the file in Notepad it is completely blank. I'm assuming that is not a good thing.

Is it lost forever or is there a way to open it back up?

Unless you have another copy, it's gone.

When working on a file, always make a new one after so many changes. I have files that say "Project1" "Project1a"(minor change) "Project2" etc.
For those that are paranoid, make two, one to a flash drive.

You can run file recovery software, but personally the chances are nil.

Unfortunately you may be right. In my case, if it's opened in notepad the file is completely wiped clean. BUT if anyone else has the same problem and the text for the file can be opened you can try this technique in the video below.

Never thought of doing that: Create a clean anme file and insert text from the corrupt file after non-corrupt header.
Thanks for the share.
