Stereoscopic rendering in Anime Studio 8

Post by GCharb »

Hello everyone.

I have been looking at stereoscopic rendering in asp 8 for some time, mainly to be able to export to compositing software.

I made a paper for my blog with my findings.

Hey Gilles, interesting article :) thanks.
I've not experimented much with 3D at all, but this is an interesting read.

Thanks, my project will be rendered in stereo, which could have been done several other ways, but to do it in ASP directly is much better!

checked your tutorial it is great and valuable
it is great if you post a video tutorial...for many stereoscopic rendering
is tricky. Tricky from project settings, layer placing, camera movements
by the way your tutorial is great help

You are welcome aji, but even though stereoscopic rendering got better in ASP 8, it is still very basic.

If you want solid stereo setup, you would need to do it in an external application, like After Effects.

Thanks
That means it is better create image seqs in anime studio then composite it in
soft like After Effects.
Then it is better render seperately left eye camere visual seqs and Right eye camera visual seqs seperately. Then composite in After Effects.
can it possible to setup precise camera tracks -left eye-right eye in anime studio?

As I said, ASP has basic stereo tools, very basic.

The best way to go for professional use, is to render the animated sequences in ASP, the backgrounds in separate layers, PSD output is great for that.

Then you import in After Effects or similar, then you setup your scene in stereo there.

After Effects will allow you to setup precise left and right eye cameras, to setup and animate your point of convergence/parallax etc.

In after Effects you can create a stereo camera rig that will react to the way you animate it.

In ASP you cannot do any of these things and your center of convergence/parallax will change as soon as you animate the camera.

ASP has terrible camera tracking that affects many things, like DOF and stereo convergence!

ASP 8 has better basic tools for basic stereo rendering, but if you are looking to produce professional stereo series, then you need After Effects or similar to do the job.

Anime Studio 8 Pro Feature: 3D Rendering Options

in this youtube video we can see effective stereoscopic effecect with positive and negative parallex. If this anime stuio file is available
we can see and understand how this effect is created. But i couldnt get that .anme file. If you provide the file or recreate a file and
post that in the forum that will be great use.
