Render Shape?

Hi,
I have written an exporter for AS and it works great except I don't support vector shapes yet. I need to convert the shape to image and export an image.

Is there any way to render shapes to an image or file?

The only idea I have at this point is to hide all layers except the shape I want, or somehow copy it to a new document, and then call FileRender or something.

Any other ideas or ways to do this?
