Maximum Timeline Length

Post by antmarkhemingway »

Hey everyone,

i'm new to Anime studio and have it ordered. I just wanted to check a few things for when it turns up.

Firstly, i was wondering if there was a time limit to the debut version. Can your animations be as long as you require? If you really wanted to, could you go all out and make something for say 1 and 1/2 hour long?

Does the debut version export high quality video files. I read it does AVI and MOV, are these nice quality or rough looking when displayed on a large TV?

Thanks in advance and looking forward to getting to know people along my travels learning to use Anime.

Ant.

PD: Two minutes duration is enough. Normally, you create one file per scene and then put all them together on other software. A file of 90 minutes is hugely crazy even in Pro.

Debut...
max export is 768x768
max number of frames is 3000
movie formats are MOV, AVI, SWF
I also think you can only import 1 audio file.
Sorry for bad animation

Thanks Selgin,

A tad dissapointing, this was never mentioned when i bought the software. I purchased it from a thrid party company who are selling on behalf of Smith Micro. However, I guess debut is a good starting point, and I will upgrade to pro if i like it. As you say, I can create various files and put them together in Vegas.

Just reading those comparisons and it says auto trace in debut is black and white only - does this mean i cant auto trace photos?

Believe me, working with files of two minutes is a nightmare enough, not because of software's limitations, but for the amount of info and keys you must deal with. Separate your video in scenes is the wiser decision, in my humble view.
I think the autotrace output is only black and white in debut, so you can trace colored images, but the traced result will be B/W.

Great, looking forward to using the software.

Looking at the screenshots on the A.S Debut product page, it appears you can use photos for your characters heads (there's an image of a cartoon body with a photo of a dogs head)... So hopefully I can import photos and use them in colour :).

Sure! you can import any image you want and animate it with bones. The limitation is only about tracing images to vectors.

Ah thats great. All I wanted to do for the time being was use photos for heads and ad them to the characters from the wizard. I will see what I come up and share my work as I go. Thanks for your advice so far.
