AVI Codecs for PC

Post by CSCorbridge »

Can anyone help me figure out the differences among the AVI codecs or pick the best one? Everyone recommends using quicktime instead- but I'm on a PC and it seems impossible to go from AS to a DVD if I'm rendering in quicktime. Or...would it be better to render as a quicktime mov file, then use some conversion software to change it into an MPEG or something so I can actually burn it to DVD using my PC? If so, anyone know the best conversion software (preferably free)?

I've seen Lagarith mentioned but I'm pretty green when it comes to the exporting stuff. I'm not afraid of reasonably large file sizes, but obviously don't want outrageously ginormous files as if I rendered without compression.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

DVD Flick is free and you can dump just about any video in it and it will combine all of them into one DVD video. I have imported AVI, WVM, Quicktime, VOB, It does not matter. It will burn them into one DVD in the order you stack the raw files.
