Export editable vectors to other software?

Post by SpaceBoy64 »

If AS has the ability to export Flash format, can I export something I can use in Inkscape? or Adobe Illustrator format?

I'm still looking for an answer here.

I'm looking into converting a single frame swf file to a pdf file using third party software but haven't found a solution yet.

I like the features of Anime Studio for doing illustrations. I know I can just render out images, but it would be nice to be able to export vectors so that I could hand off files to other people to print.

Thanks.

I just exported AS to .swf. Created a new project in Flash. Imported the .swf file. Select all, copy. Opened Illustrator, Paste-vectors came in. Lines and fills.

I guess that's good if you have Flash, but I don't.

I wasted a lot of time online yesterday looking for some software that could do what I want, but nothing will. I'm really surprised. I found lots of evidence of people wanting to do the same thing on forums, but none found a good solution.

Well, lacking vectors, you might as well just up the resolution and export a .psd or targa or whatever and print from that. Or, you could try to download Flash from Adobe, and run it in trial mode for a month (and hope that it allows for this sort of use). I have no idea if it will work with Inkscape though.

Not that it does you any good, but Toon Boom Studio prints directly from the application (exports .pdfs too).

A PDF export function would be ideal.

I would also like to be able to take some of the elements that I'm creating into After Effects. Anime Studio is great for character animation, but there are just some things that After Effects does much better and quicker.

I am using all the tools in my kit on this. I've been creating some backgrounds and props in Lightwave, some in Photoshop, character animation in Anime Studio, and some compositing in After Effects. Interoperability is essential.

Thanks,
-Don

You can print to a pdf if you have commercial Acrobat. There are free options as well, such as PDF Ghost Writer or CutePDF Writer.

A pdf with vectors? That's what I need. So far as I can see, the only way to print anything is to do a render first.

Thanks,

Ah, you're right. I forgot AS doesn't have a "print" option. The swf-to-Flash-to-AI is the only workflow I'm aware of.

To thrive in a fast-paced and relentlessly competitive business climate, enterprises have to run very tight ships. Manufacturing companies that leverage Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to integrate information flow across the chain of operations, finance, and management are realizing critical benefits in quality, productivity, continuous process improvements and bottom-lines.
