Hi.
I have been trying to set up a simple shape masking test. I want to punch a wedge shape out of a circle via a wedge shaped mask but I want the linework on the inside of the wedge to stay intact.
It's late and I'm also trying to ween myself off AS5.6. Thought this would be a no brainer in AS8 by now? What am I missing here anyone?
the version in the VIP section on the other forum allows the shape to be edited after drawing (and in the timeline) so that you can , e.g., animate resizing the "cut-out"... [but the edit mechanism merits some improvements... take a look at the relevant thread for that discussion]

I remember there are easier ways to make that mask work, but this is the only setup which shows the inside line on the preview.

selgin. I did see your thread but I was hoping there would be an easier way to mask an object leaving the linework intact other than using a script. You mention there are other easier ways? Love to see them if you can remember?
hayasidist. Does your tool actually allow the line to poke through a mask or is it a plain drawing tool?
slow. Thanks I had figured that but I though by version 8 there would be a checkbox that allowed for the line on a shape to be exluded from the mask. This is plainly ridiculous in my view that something so basic and necessary can go unchecked for two complete versions. I'll bring it up at Lenny's place.
I simply added a solid shadow with everything set to 0 and expansion set to 4 pixels to the top masking group layer. This added the outline I needed to the inside edge without any extra layers, script etc.
