Mouth shapes from a side view?

Post by SpaceBoy64 »

Has anyone ever had to create mouth shapes for lip sync in a side view?

I'm doing silhouette characters. Do I need to make the mouth separate to make a switch layer? What would be the best way to do this? I have to convey emotion too, which will be tough without showing eyes.

You'll need to include the head, or at least part of it, into each switch layer, because you need to "cut out" a portion of it with each mouth shape. You can do that with a mask, or with arranging the points of the head outline (be sure to have enough points in tehre from the start).

Is there any problem with using the entire head, or the body in the switch layer?

Are there any examples of mouths shapes out there?

it might work to have a head shaped masked by switch layer containing shapes for each mouth? ...in theory...

Ah, that's a good idea. This way you even can have interpolation, since the mask is vector.

Just tried it:

Thanks. That would work.

I have been looking at the morph dials script. The switch layer might work better for the lip sync though.

Too much time goes by in between animation jobs. I forget about these things.
