Thanks for the trouble, guys! Of course I took the method of sbtamu, which is just as simple as it can be. I imagine this is a new AS 7 or 8 feature. I had a look at this pane before I posted the question here, but of course it isn't visible if you don't set the origin. This is just what I needed. By setting the sheer to -3, I had a nice believable shadow, and in the same direction as the shadow on the background picture.

The best win here is that any change you make to the animation, the shadow is immediately correct. Super!

Hej, I like this character, and it works with that background, too. Is this from an actual production?
