Have you watched Funksmaname's tutorials on morph dials? One of them is on installing the script.

I have seen that video but I get easily confused when tutorials are shown on windows because I use a mac. I downloaded and installed the "lost layer" and "lost doodle" scripts with no problem so it would seem that maybe I just do the same process? I was messing around with it last night and now I forgot exactly what the issue was but Im sure I'll be posting on here again if I can't figure it out. Thanks!

Ok I successfully installed the Morphdials script, but I've noticed that the sample .anme file that comes with it does not work without the apply_morph_weights.lua script being together in the same folder as the .anme file. Is there somewhere in the main application files I should be putting the .lua file? I've tried it in a few different files where other .lua files are kept but no luck.

it doesnt matter where you put the file, but you have to attach it to the layers again probably - double click the vector layers and tick 'embed layer script' then navigate to wherever you saved the file and select it

Then it should work! :)

It seems to be working OK now. I've just been messing around with the example file it came with. Rigging it up to one of my own characters seems a completely different conundrum however. I really like the idea of the Morphdials but right now Im discouraged by the learning curve. I've been using AS since version 6 but have really just been hitting my stride with feeling like i really am getting to know how to use it quite well. (although there's always more to learn!) Actions and blend morphs and masking have alluded me and recently I am feeling like I am actually learning something. (extra thanks to selgin, and PARKER's posts) . I am also interested in what other user created scripts are useful, I've found some sites that list a few but the "Lost Layer" seems to be the only one I found worth using. Anyway thanks to everyone who replies. I am new to the forum and am enjoying it very much!

There are several great user scripts that I use all the time. These would be, Capricorn 33's F K. I K. script, . Pony smashers cycle offset script, point time machine, bone time machine, as well as others that he has on his website, Hayasidist"s script for additional drawing tools is a must, and Mike Kelly's key skeleton script are the ones that I use the most. Of course, Rudiger's morph dials, nudge keyframe, and his select shape and import animation script get a lot of usage for me to. :)

in regards to the Morphdials, isnt it just easier to use the blend morphs sliders instead? maybe I am missing a key benefit since Im having such a hard time figuring out how to use it.

Before ASP8.1 came out with the addition of relative blending, certain actions were harder to do with blend morphs like having a character look right and blink. Unless you created an action with the eyes looking right when it blinks, the eyes would return to center when you did the blink blend. There were ways around this but they're harder to set up. That's just a simple example. Morph dials also allow you to make a single action like eyes closed or look right, and by rotating the morph dial bone back the other way the action would reverse, i.e. eyes would open instead of close or look left instead of right. This lets you create fewer actions for a greater range of motions. The blend morph menu is kind of a PITA to work with as you have to keep calling it up for each time you use it, morph dials are available in the workspace at all times and give you a good range of subtle motions. I seen in your other thread you're having trouble with setting them up, check out this video I did for a guy. The first part is on installing the script which you can skip, but the rest is a simple set-up and use of the script. It might help.

Thank you for the link , however I am a Mac user and I cannot play .wmv files on my computer. I converted it to a format I can watch but there was no video, only sound. Your explanaition makes a good argument for using Morphdilas... I WILL figure this out!!!

Hey jonbo, I tried that link again and now its just completely gone! Any chance its on youtube or something or you could send me another link? I appreciate how helpful you've been and hate to keep bugging you about it but I NEED to figure out MorphDials. It would increase my workflow so much. Thanks again!

Sorry, I cleaned out my dropbox. Here's a link to youtube. It's a very simple example, I'll make a more detailed one if you need it.
