Hey I just downloaded as debut 8, and was noticing a big lack in the tutorial department. I was looking in my /shared directory and noticed a /tutorial folder with a lot of cool looking animations. Unfortunately, there were no documents attached to explain how to get from step A to B.
Is there a pdf somewhere to explain those tutorials?
There's the tutorials, and there's the manual, both accessible from the menu inside AS. We agree the manual has some gaps, but all general concepts are covered.
What's not provided is a book about how to animate. See your next bookshop for that.

.....really.
I was just wondering are there key shortcuts to switch between groups of points, or jump back to the start, and how to make layers move back and forth (if I have a ball jump through a door, how does it move into the said room)?
I've got some basic artistic talent...
a page number would help, I've read a bit on layers but nothing specifically that would cover having part of one layer transition between another.
It's quite possible thought that I am looking in the wrong place. I'm new to animation and don't know the jargon yet.
For animated layer ordering, layers must be in a group or bone layer and "layer ordering" checked in that. For "partly before, partly behind" we just duplicate one layer and delete parts, if necessary.

And there we have it... I didn't have my layers in a group. Thanks for being patient!
