The Background is not visible?

When I begin a new project, and go into Project settings, and set the background color, it does not show. I can click on "render" and it will show the background. When I go to the main screen nothing shows in the workspace. Am I not doing something corrct with the layers? [/quote]

The background color doesn't show in the editing view, since depending on the color it can be quite distracting and interfere with the visibility of the objects you are editing.

If you really want to change the background color in the editing view, select the Edit->Preferences menu command. In the dialog that comes up, go to the Editor Colors tab and change the Background color.
