How to animate a spine so it can move without stretching?

Post by Quatto:) »

I would like to make a lateral view of a spine and animate it without the vertebra stretching and warping. I would like the vertebral discs to be able to squash and bulge(this part I think I can do with my understanding with bones).
But when I try to move the vertebra they warp and stretch. Is there a technique or a setting I haven't figured out yet that could help?
Thanks in advance :D
PS - this is my first post, what is a poll option?

Depending on how realistic the result needs to be, you'll need as many bones as vertebrae. Use a mixture of flexible and region binding. With the region binding tool, select all points of 1 vertebrae and bind it to 1 bone. This will make it act totally rigid.
