Flash file distorted
Hello and greetings
I have a question about my flashfile.
I created a character and as a test I exported it first in quicktime. All goes well. Its looking just the way I wanted.
But when I export it to flash at the end of the file suddenly the characters hair and eyes are flying off ??
I have no idea why this is, specially since the quicktime file is perfect.
I wanted to include the swf but am not sure how to upload,
Thanks
Dust

Flash export problem
I am having this same problem.
My character starts out looking okay, although a bit slow. The eyes aren't quite right because of the masking not working, but they're passable. There is a horizontal line extending from her cocktail glass. Then it gets very strange, they eyes pop off, everything re-draws one piece at a time very slowly, and the whole character is repeated as if the screen had not been cleared first. It looks very weird.
This is a fairly simple animation and I think it should work as an SWF file, but it doesn't. Can these be edited in Flash to fix problems? I don't use flash. I'm making this for someone else to use on their web site.

In general: don't commit to deliver SWF if you can't use Flash to clean up or repair stuff.
Flash imports SWF in the most stupid way: it creates a keyframe for each frame, even if there's nothing going on. You have to manually erase all duplicate frames if you need a small file size.
Flash also imports AS SWF in only one channel, making it impossible to sort out stuff.
Things you can do:
- Export one channel at a time if file size is critical, then clean up in Flash.
- You can use AS masks in Flash if you export them separately and re-build your masking setup.

Honestly, if you have to deliver swf files and file size is an issue, it's best to just use Flash. I've asked for improvements to Flash file export over the years, and not a single thing has changed since Moho days. So this situation is unlikely to improve anytime soon...Don't like saying this in the AS forum, but there you go.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Oh in my case, I didn't. This was just an afterthought. I did the animation for use in YouTube videos, but then they also have a website. They want my animation to play on the splash page. I'm not a web expert or a Flash user, so I don't know how to do that, but I figured I'd give the swf export a try.slowtiger wrote:In general: don't commit to deliver SWF if you can't use Flash to clean up or repair stuff.
My animation has a character raising a toast and sipping a cocktail, and the show's title reveals with some sparkles.

I separated the character from the title and got rid of the sparkles and shortened the animation to 90 frames. That helped.
What do you mean by channels? Layers?
