Good mouth designs for interpolation

Post by cucumihai »

Do you guys have any tips for a good mouth technique to use with Interpolation in switch layers? I want to improve my characters mouths but right now i have every mouth on separate layers not duplicated ones and i want to re-do them but i have problems, like transforming the A pose to in O pose and so on.
Thanks.

Do some tests first so you know what you're doing. Then create the final master mouth with a bit more points than you think you'll need. Think of including teeth or tongue or uvula if that's part of your character. If some parts will only be visible in certain positions, work out a way to hide them in the other positions in a way that they don't come up in a weird way during interpolation - but in that case it may be better to switch off interpolation at all.

You should be able to derive your mouth positions from that.

Just make sure you start with a "basic" mouth that has more points than you need (as slowtiger suggested), then duplicate that layer and manipulate those points into whatever mouth shape you need. If you don't have the same number of points as all the other mouth shapes, it won't interpolate correctly.
