The planet Peptune

Post by 3deeguy »

I've been experimenting with texture maps with the 3D feature of ASP. I looked at a Pepsi logo and wanted to see if I could make it look like a planet. It needs work but I thought the effect was interesting.

That is awesome stuff, looks like 3d from a 3d package, very nice, well done mate!

There must be something about planets in the air as I am doing a tutorial on how toy use the splotchy effect in 6.2 to make a sun and planet.

[Edit, had the wrong image before.]

Thanks Gilles. The technique was developed by selgin. Jonbo taught me how it was done. I added the colors in ASP, reduced the opacity to 40% and then took a screen shot.
I learned a lot from your masking tutorial so I'll be keeping an eye out for your future tutorials.

Yeah, you can do basic mapping on lathe objects in ASP, which is cool, but I find it hard to do good placement sometimes, you did an excellent job on that Pepsi planet.

You should make an add and propose it to them! :)

Again, great work.

Masking is a powerful tool in ASP, one that deserve much attention, so I made a second tutorial on it for my blog.
