Not-So-Automatic Bone Binding

Post by LadyJabberwocky »

I've followed the Instruction Book that comes with AnimeStudio Debut 7, and I'm still having trouble with the bone binding. I add the bone layer like it says in the book, but the picture doesn't follow the bones. I also tried to manually bind the bones, but the "bind points" and "bind layer" tools are not selectable. Any ideas?

Be sure the layers are IN the bone layer. If the layers are OUT of it, they will not be affected by bones...
If you want to bind a layer, first select the layer you want to bind then the bone. Now click on "bind layer" tool on the bar.
If you want to bind only some of the points on the layer: Select the layer then the bone. Done this select the points you want bind (You can use the selecting tool, shortcut "g") then click on "bind points" tool.

In this way it will work... I hope! :D
Sorry for my bad english... Q_Q

The layers are in the bone layer, but the "bind layer" option is still not selectable. I can see the "bind layer" icon, but I can't click on it.

After you add a layer to the bone layer make sure its actually in the bone layer buy clicking on the small arrow icon. After that, re-open the sub layers and click on the layer you want binded to a bone. Then click on select bone. Click on the bone you want and it will turn red. Then click on bind layer. For bind points you do the same but you have to click on the points you want and then hit the space bar.
Sorry for bad animation

This link will take you to a picture of my screen. I'm new to animation software, so this is still somewhat difficult for me. Look at it and let me know where to go from there, please.

On the layers palette, select the vector layer, not the bone layer. Then select the bind layer tool in the toolbox and click on the bone. It will turn color from blue to red.

Take your time and do it step-by-step. Both Imago and sbtamu explained it in their posts.

I'm having the same problem. Sorry I'm being thick, but I've tried slowly following every instruction and the icon for bone bind points is unselectable. I've tried pressing 'bind layer' but that hasn't stopped her head from popping off when I move her arm!

My layers are set up like this -

Girl skeleton (bone layer)
- pockets (vector)
- arms (vector)
- dress (vector)
- Head turn (switch layer)
- - Front Facing Head default (bone layer)
- - - neutral face (vector)
- - - sad face (vector)
- - Left facing head (bone layer)
- - - neutral face (vector)

etc... you've got the idea

I've got various head switch layers. Before I added more than one, the head bone binding stopped working. Have I messed up the layers or something?

Please help
