Bone length problem
When I use the 'manipulate bone' tool the limbs stretch as they rotate because the bone length changes. How do I stop that?
Cheers, Larry
I measured the bone length with a piece of paper that I placed on my computer screen when I manipulated the "upper arm" bone. When I previewed the raised arm it still looked stretched.

There is a scale bone key frame at frame 24. I deleted it and tried the manipulate bone tool and couldn't repeat the scale problem. I think it was an error. Try deleting all the keyframes for bone scale in the timeline and see if it does it again when you manipulate the arm. If you don't see the key frame in the timeline, make sure the consolidate timeline channels option is not checked in the preferences sub menu.
Thanks John. I might have a monitor problem. I enabled the grid and even the individual grid cells look like rectangles when I zoom in and measure them.
Now that I think about it my circles looked oblong when I shift/drag. I rotated the layer and it didn't look like an egg so I thought it was me. Maybe I should try another monitor?

I changed software resolutions and I pressed monitor buttons. Nothing... I ended up placing a paper disc over a 'shift' circle that I made in MS Paint. I immediately saw the difference. I hooked up my wife's monitor and the problem disappeared. I'll take my monitor to a shop before I decide to get a new one. Thanks. You've saved me time and clumps of hair.
