Create keyframes "point A point B"

Post by Shepard »

Hi, I'm in this situation:

I must create an object that appears, for example, at 20 second, and disappears at 30 second. In this 10 seconds the object do an action.

If I put the object at 20 second and this does an action, the action starts from the 0 second!
Instead, I need that the action started from 20 second and during until 30 second.

The ideal timeline with actions is this:

0 : 20 --> the object is hidden
20 --> the object appears
21 : 29 --> the object do an action
30 --> the object disappears (is hidden, of course)

I need that the 20 second is my "point A" and the 29 second is my "point B". In this period, the object does an action, and before and then, the object is hidden.

But the real timeline is this:

1. I create the object and I hide it
2. I move the timeline in 20 second, and I reveal the layer
3.... stop, the object is reveal also from 0 and 19 second! :(
4. If I do an action with object, also the action begin from 0 and not from the 19 second!

How to do?

Easy, just copy your action to the timeline, then use the sequencer to drag it where you want it to start acting, then go to frame 0, double click the character or whatever top layer, group or bone, and make it invisible on frame 0.

Ok perfect..This is in two layer... but if the layer is only one with two actions different?

Example:

1. I have a mouth

2. the mouth simulates the speech from 0 to 20 second

3. from 21 second the mouth must simulates surprese, increasing it's volume (like this: ooooooooOOOOOOOOOOO )

I must to duplicate the layer of mouth?

If I get you properly, you want to have your character speak from frame 1-20 then have a mouth expression from frame 21.

If this is the case, use switch layer, that is, you create a switch layer where you put all of your mouth phonemes and expression and you turn them on and off by right clicking the switch layer.

This is explained in details in the manual!

Yes, but theese are small things that doesn't works without experience.

So, I need of a "push" to reach it :D

However, thanks, your solution works great!

All positions of one same part must be put in a swith for work... Ok!

Thanks, and sorry for all theese boring questions.

The only bad question is the question not asked, even though sometimes I would like new users to actually do the basic tutorials at least, before asking in the forum!

This said, you are most welcome! :)

Another similar question..

I must create 2 "camera shot".. (sorry for my english if this words are wrong... "shot" or "view"...).

Image this situation:

A. two characters are talking about ---> the camera "shows" both

B. the character 1 says something of important ---> the camera "shows" his face

C. the character 2 still shocked --> the camera "shows" his face

D. the camera "shows" both again

The camera passages (from characters 1 to characters 2 and panoramic view) are without transitions (like Family Guy or South Park).
The camera views passages are instantaneous! (remember this).

For do this, I follow this steps:

A. I do action of speech, fixing the camera "shot" for shows both. The speech is long from 1 to 60 frame

B. I copy keyframe CAMERA in 1 frame and past it in 60 frame

C. In 61 frame I move the camera in first plane of the head of character 1

In this way, there isn't the transition from position A and position B, because the movement of camera are neighbors of a single frame.

This way (I repeat, sorry for my english!) works great...but....it's very slow to follow.

My question is: there's a way more fast? For example, create more shot camera split in more layers, and put them in a switch.
I tried, but doesn't works...the movement of camera aren't "saved" in a layer...

IF in AS there's a way (like plugin, script or something) to create more indipendent camera shot to switch, this is would be great!

Yes, use step interpolation in the camera keyframes and you'll save one step in the procedure.

What he means is this, you right click on the camera keyframe and select step for interpolation.

What this does is, instead of a smooth transition of the camera, you get an abrupt one, going from one position to the other in one step.

I doubt you can fill the forum with only your discussions. ;)
