Library problem in ASP 7 and 8

Post by uddhava »

Hello,

When I try to open the library in either version (above) , I get the same message; that my versions of IE and Flash Player aren't up to date, which isn't true.

Any solution to this problem?

Might want to go to your preferences and "use old library"
might help ;)

Thanks Patmals!

That good old library comes in handy! Do you know why that works?

Thanks again, uddhava

I'm glad that solved the problem, Uddhava!

It might be due to the new library being online friendly (relying on your browser).
It's just a guess, though. Anyway, glad it'swrking again ;)

yes the "New" library uses flash, so it depends on the version of flash you have installed. This does enable the ability to do much more then the "old" library like search, add favorites, and search content paradise.com. but the best part is that you can add you content to the "new" library.

I found the library location by going to Help> open content library.
I then added a folder in characters and props for my project. I was then able to save the layer or group I have selected to the library, which has been handy. The only bummer is it doesn't create the thumbnail for you, but it looks like you can make your own.

I wasn't having any problems, but I just did a web search for "flash player download" and grabbed the latest plug-in release from Adobe to be safe.

Distinct Sun,

I tried using the new library again after reading you post and it worked! I guess I must of had an older version of Flash when I last tries it, although I'm pretty careful to keep my Flash Player up to date.

Thanks, udd

The new library uses Internet explorer only, but is not smart enough to use it if it is not your default browser.

So, unless you use IE as your default browser you have to use the old library!

How about using the Firefox browser?

I tried Firefox and Chrome as default browsers, none works, only IE, so, if you want to use the new library, you need to setup IE as your default browser.

Maybe a guru can help us here because I use Chrome as my default browser and resorted on using the old library!

This is strange Gilles, I have Google Chrome as my default browser and the new library works fine for me. I had a problem at first when AS7 came out, but it resolved itself and I haven't had a problem with the library since. Odd.

LOL, seems it is working on my side as well, but at first I had same troubles as uddhava, tried everything, never worked but with IE.

My mistake! :)

uddhava, have you tried disabling it then enabling again?

GCharb,

Yes, I disabled it and then enabled it again and it worked. Funny. I guess that would be considered a bug unless I happened to download a newer version of Flash Player in the meantime and that caused it to work.

I hope this post will help others who have had the same problem.
