Post by sbtamu »

Will you guys please make a line and make it 3d and add a texture to it. I notice that you can not take repeat tile off. Please confirm.

You might need to provide more information on your process. I enabled the grid to plot two end points on the centre of the workspace. Drew out a half butterfly like shape [open without two end points connected]. Created a stroke from that. Using the Lost Layer Tool, Lathe the line. Added a texture to the stroke and choose do not repeat. It worked as far as I saw. Could also choose tile.

That's exactly what I am doing but the texture always repeats. I select the stroke and move the texture in and out and you can see it repeating no matter if I set it to repeat or not.

Okay, I did some experiments. You can choose do not repeat when you first create the outline and it will work as it should. But, even with do not repeat selected, if you use the handles to adjust the size of the texture [like the handles for adjusting gradients], your texture will repeat when it gets below it's native size. Unfortunately, even if you go in a select the same or different texture, it will repeat base on the sizing you adjusted with the handles, and you can only reset it by manually adjusting the handles. A solution I found is to delete the stroke and make it again. This will reset the handles and you can apply your texture with do not repeat.

Thanks crsP,

I thought I would put a face on a 3d sphere using a stroke with texture but it just isn't turning out with good results.
