Animation Classes?

Post by lwaxana »

Does anyone know of any online animation classes that cover animation principles and frame by frame techniques with small projects and critiques that is geared toward hobbyists? I'm looking for the same level of information and guidance as in a basic animation class in an animation school, but not a full time 40 hour a week time commitment.

Most colleges offer animation classes. Texas A and M (where I went to Grad school) actual offer degrees in animation but you can always just register as a nontraditional student and take what classes you want. I think most if not all the classes are online now.
Sorry for bad animation

Tony White started the Desktop Academy that provides mentoring for students of traditional animation.

Also, here's one from Don Bluth in the form of streaming video.
Don Bluth Animation Workshop

I haven't tried either one, but if I had the time, I would consider this opportunity to learn from these masters.
