AS7 hardline corner fixed?

Post by Memnarch »

Good evening. Havent been here fpr a looong time. Noticed(oh year fast reaction^^"), that As7 is available.

With AS6 i had a problem(as everyone else) which looked like this:

Image

Thoese 2 line have hardedges instead of connecting smoothly. There have been some workarounds like placins small circles at those point to avoid this and other things.

My question for As7: Is there an easy way to get rid of such situations or de we still need to workaround? Those hardlines arent suitable for some cases and back in the days of As6(when i have been here last time), there was no option for using Lines with curved edges(like any paint software does).

Sorry for posting again.

Just incase. I made a picture with a(for me) common situation of this problem:

So has this been fixed in As7?

No. All you can do is use the 'dots' to fix it.
Sorry for bad animation

As mentioned many times before, AS handles shapes differently than other vector applications. Try this construction approach:

Image

[Oops. The first caption should read "Create these shapes with OUTLINE transparency set to zero".]

Notes
1) Sometimes it's useful to separate the fill from the outlines styles.
2) No need to use hide edges.
3) Different shapes can't share the exact same set of points.
3) Shapes are like cels, that is, upper shapes overlay lower shapes (so the lower iris shapes have no effect on the pupil or outline shapes above it).

Hope that helps.

neeters_guy: Oh, thats in interesting construction. Never thought about splitting fill and outlines(shame on me XD).

Thanks for this tip. Seems to be very usefull. It'll change my future way of creating shapes^^.

Just to add, you can construct the neeters_guy's eye using only ten points, there is no need of more. Just remember to use the curvature tool.

The vectors don't need to intersect in this case. The pupil can be completely disconnected from the iris, with the iris divided "behind" the pupil (behind in terms of shape order). Sometimes it is messier to have overlapping vectors, but sometimes it can be easier. You just have to be careful when selecting points.
