Illustrator 8 too old?

I'm using Illustrator 8 as my .ai source for files. When I "import/ Illustrator Files" in AS7pro, nothing happens - no error message, no file appearance.
Am I missing some step or is Illustrator 8 too old for AS to deal with?

If it is a big file, AS can take a looooooooooooong time to import. First thing I'd try is a really small ai file, see if it imports that (although you *should* be able to see the files in the directory file list...).

Illustrator 8 should not be too old. In fact if you have a newer version you have to use legacy format illustrator 8 or earlier. This thread has some good general info: viewtopic.php?t=8862&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 But I'm afraid I don't know what's causing your issue. It allows you to select the file and then nothing happens?
