layer depth

This has got to be simple but I cannot find any instructions for it.
I am drawing an image on one layer it is composed of overlapping objects that will not be animated. How to change the z depth so that i can choose which object will be in the front and which at the back. This has got to be simple.

Found it! Why is this control only available under the shape select and not the drawing tools?

It has simpler shortcuts. Select the shape you want to reorder (using the select shape tool) and on the keyboard press ↑ or ↓
