I have exported AVI uncompressed many times from AS and it works good. The problem I am having now is if I import an AVI uncompressed movie in to AS it stops at 35 seconds even though the movie is 2 min. long. The file is a tad under 6G.
If I compress the movie to around 20mb I can get it to import all 2 min. but the quality is sub par.
My question is; does ASP 7 have a limit on the file size you can import?
Secondly, what would be the best quality to convert an uncompressed AVI to for importing to AS?
Thanks
Stephen
File size limit?

What I do not get is that even at 6gb the movie plays just fine on all my players. But for some reason AS wont. Windows movie maker plays it just fine as does VirtualDub, Sony Vegas, Windows Media Player, but for some reason AS wont.
I hate using codecs but if anyone has a suggestion that can help me I would appreciate it.

Thanks slowtiger I will try Quicktime with PNG.slowtiger wrote:I haven't used such a looong video yet, but I compose my scenes of several video files in AS, all as HDTV Quicktime (PNG codec), and it works beautifully, albeit I don't get smooth playback in preview - but I wouldn't get that playback in Quicktime player either.
Whats happening is I am making a live action animation (correct term?) and I am having trouble getting the video to upload to my PC.
I am using a Panasonic DVD Palmcorder and the one way I can get the video to upload is either spending a lot of cash on mini discs and finalizing each disc each time I want to test the video in AS and at 10 buck for 3 disc this is not an option.
Another way is to use a capture card and use component from the camera but the software converts it to vob and I then have to convert it something AS can read.
Another way I found is to capture the video via virtual dub, this would eliminate having to convert the raw video before importing into AS but this is where the 6g problem happens and AS stops after 35 seconds.
I have Sony Vegas 9 pro but I can not get the program to read the camera. I read on forums somewhere that Vegas does not work well with USB type captures.
I Think my camera is (to put in simple) crap.
I think I will try using Virtualdub to capture the video then use Sony Vegas to convert it to Quicktime PNG.
This has to be the DUMBEST bot I've ever seen.caseycecil wrote:Nar given the size of the paging file in Windows, the documentation states att de största paging file on ice can select tech 4095 megabytes (MB). Btw slowtiger, Quicktime with PNG worked!
