There is a script called "Split Curve". You select points and choose the menu item "Scripts/Draw/Split Curve...". Type in how many extra points you want in the circle and hit return. This script is fantastic. It will add the number of points you choose and space them equally between the existing points of the vector. I use this script all the time. It's a real workhorse for me.

The script is already there under: [Scripts] -> [Draw] -> [Split Curve] (as indicated by heyvern).

Whilst we are on the subject of the "Split Curve" tool, I actually think the name is misleading. The first time I used it I was trying to break an unfilled Circle and getting nowhere fast with the tool, until I read the manual and realised its purpose. Additionally - it does not only add points ("Split") to Curves, it will add additional points to any points already selected on a path (or multiple paths).

It should probably be called the "Add more red dots to a curve, line, square, triangle or squiggle" tool. But I guess that title isn't too catchy :lol: .

Regardless of its name, it is a great tool.
