Scaling the control bone will effect the slave bone as the slave bone is tied to the control bone via bone constraints....in effect the two bones will operate and contract together. You must be off frame 0 fopr this to work though.

so does scaling put extra "squeeze" on the points?

You could just as easily bind those points to two rotating bones like Chucky's example. Just depends on how you want to control it.

Yes.....each point is binded to each bone seperately so when the bone is scaled to contract or expand the point it is binded to moves with it.
