Slowtiger, doesn't the description say that it is a 2D fighting game? I think the point is that it looks like it was done with a 3D engine because it's so smooth. Actually, it's a pity this 2D engine never caught on, as it looks like it could do a better cel-shaded effect in 2004 than they can do now with 3D.

I think it could possibly be done with AS, but the main sticking point would be the body rotations and spin moves. Makes me really wonder how they did it with their 2D engine. Perhaps they had a 3D skeleton and then used the angle of the bones to switch between sprites for each body part. It would be nice if we could do that with AS. It would also be nice if we could use AS a real-time game engine.

This game was ported to the PS2 a few years ago, apparently using the same engine, so I think I'll try and get a hold of it, so I can study it in more detail than I can with the low quality YouTube videos.

Thanks for the feedback and info, oh and I'm not a spammer just a guy who came to the forum for some pointers....@rudiger that's my next goal, to get a copy of the game and study the movements. (Also Rudiger your response was dead on.) Lastly, I believe the only console port was for the Japanese ps2...unsure though. Again thanks.
