....import a QT movie that (so far) says it isn't there?

Wondering how to accomplish a certain animation task? Ask here.

Get a video editor. Since your work is saved as a video file, you need to have access to the frames within, and a video editor does just that. There are several available even for free.

My personal choice would be TVPaint since I already own it. Import the video, arrange all frames, export a new video.

Have a look at some frame grabbers, the programs you use for stop motion. They all assemble frames, they all allow timing of individual frames, and they should be able to import an existing video file as well.

A 100th of a second can't be translated into any video format since the smallest standard increment would be a 30th of a second.

tbh, my advice would be to start again using ASpro, at least then you have an idea to practice with already - recreating and improving what you already did... setting things to 100ths of a second sounds bizarre! you shouldn't ever have to go above 1/30 (30fps) - i usually work in 24, as that gives me nice divisions on 12s... :)

Uh... nothing can play video at 1/100th of a second. Even on the computer you have a limit to the length of a single frame. I don't think there's a setting for 100fps. ;) Holy crap. Even imax isn't 100fps. I think the highest fps the human eye can differentiate is 70fps.
So I will have to start from square one (frame zero? haha) or abandon A S Pro for the two I have started in the Jasc programs. 604 frames, imported one by one? I don't think I can face that yet, hahaha.
If you choose to abandon AS it's due to problems with file format compatibility, your workflow and understanding of video terminology and function, not a failing in AS. If you used some other type of video editor that allowed for changing fps and had better options for video out put you could import video into AS.

to slowtiger:
yes, that's good advice, and I do have a very basic one, but I was just searching for a better "angle of attack", in case one was there. Thanks.

to funk:
yes, *nods sagely and sighs* I know you are right, and no doubt it is what I will end up doing. I hate reproducing any art I have created, but I always find it is better the second go at it, whatever the medium! I've just got to grit my teeth.
I have rechecked, just in case I've gone mad...muahaha! (too late) and the frame properties box most definitely says: "display time (1/100th sec) -". I have needed it with a gradual fade-in with a rolling mist at the front of my other project. I don't know what to do about that, but that's for another time, maybe. As a GIF file, it plays exactly how I want it to in QT. I don't want to lose that.

to heyvern:
bless your heart, I'm not saying I think A S Pro is at fault, I was trying to convey my disappointment at not being able to continue with it YET! (With a capital "YET"!). You don't get rid of me that easily!

I'm hoping now to find a way to keep my fade in (see above) from the other thing I'm doing. I don't want to do all that maths again.

i think the main problem is GIF 'video' playback is ...well... pants. You get inconsistently slow playback depending on your computer spec, its not a proper video codec... what you probably find is that setting 1/100th was the only way to compensate the slowdown sufficiently to make it look like 1/30th :P

I definitely recommend starting again, even as a learning exercise - and if you don't want to re-do it (and improve it by doing so, as usually is the case) then maybe it wasn't worth all this hassle to salvage in the first place? :)

you are potentially holding yourself back from having some creative fun and learning how to use AS starting something new by worrying about an old project you thought might be nice to resurrect - let it go ;)
