Newbie mesh question

Can anyone help me with the following problem?
I have a forward facing character made from bitmap images on separate layers. I have setup a smart warp action to foreshorten the thigh. But for some reason the mesh on the thigh layer gets distorted when I move the arm bones (which are not even on the same layer). Why is this? How do I stop it?

Try selecting the image and smart mesh layers, select the bones you want to influence them, and use the menu command Bone>Use Selected Bones for Flexi-binding.

Hey thanks synthsin75!
I didn't actually have any bones on the layer, just the control bone for the action, so I put one in and that fixed it. Thanks again.
