Yo,
Just a little test for 2.5D in AS Pro.
Put a mask of a grey layer over the bush when its rising, then took the opacity down as it rises up.
Also the shadow helps a lot to anchor it to the ground.

I've always loved the paper-cut-out style in a 3D setting. Like PARAPPA THE RAPPER!
Mike
(note: used to be 3.5D. I am in no way attempting to fold space back in on itself.)

Well, if you want to experiment with the space-time continuum, you have to start somewhere...

Time Space? That's hardcore man. 4D blows my mind, although I have experienced it in a dream-world before.

Sorry Mikdog, but I'm sure you need a few more D's in there.
Maybe a negative D , a lateral D.... or perhaps a tenacious one might help.
3.5 D is just a little flat these days.

3D? 4D? It's all relativity to me. It's hard enough for me to get my hands around 1D.

"WHO SAID THAT?"

I think he means length (1) + width (1) + half-depth (.5) + animation/time(1) = 3.5d.

Ah ha ha ha. I've just realised now I typed in 3.5D instead of 2.5D
Sorry guys I wasn't understanding your weird remarks. They all make sense now. Doh.

I was kind of disappointed. I was expecting my monitor to warp.
But here is a thought. There is no 3D. Everything is flat. Computer or hand drawn and anything else. It's 2d on the screen. We are only seeing a illusion of depth.

Well heya.
I came up with a NEW test. This time I made a 3D block character. I kind of like this. Check it out:

I drew the faces in Photoshop and drew the legs in AS, animated with bones, then turned them 90 degrees.

This stuff looks great! That last one reminds me of Sponge Bob.
p.s. Speaking of the "4th Dimension"...

you need 3D glasses... A 2D representation of a 3D representation of the fourth dimension... head starts to spin.

Ive posted a few items and am a noob and never get no feedback or comments...Im a little perturbed as even though im not a pro animator like a lot of talented souls on here it makes me feel disheartened that a forum made for animators haven't given me much encouragement or advice....I dont know why really..i have a good sense of humour.
Its not really animation...just stupid i guess...but if i can make people laugh thats all that matters to me

Most comedians are tough cookies. It's because they have to absorb a lot of negative criticism and still come out smiling. Some people here have expressed perfectly valid opinions about your work --you then try to characterise these people as 'numpties' or 'haters'. If that's all it takes for you to lose your sense of humour, you aren't interested in making people laugh -- you are just interested in hearing about how great you are.
OK -- show us something great...

HEY! Who hijacked my thread?
Clarence > your stuff is the best stuff I've ever seen in the world. Is that better? Ha ha ha ha. Jokes. I haven't seen it but if its not getting comments you probably haven't put enough effort into it to validate a response. Try, try, try again buddy.
