We'll never know until Greykid lets us know.

I already have a pretty good idea on how they went about the blur effect without having to resort to 3rd party apps which I'm sure is how they generated it.

They have written in another post that they use AS for all animation - but they use combustion for comping and effects. Theres no way to do a motion blur properly in AS...

they use combustion. i saw a tutorial about illuminate a character.
