Open Source Alternatives to ASP!

Was reading the other thread about AS going open source which i personaly think would be bad for the program and the users as at only $200 there is not much to gain from it being free ie only $200 but a massive amount to lose, but anyways was looking and thought you might find these interesting:

the pics look awsome and comparable to AS some of the renders look 5star the workspace seems to display gradeints and textures which must be a plus

Blender

Yes blender the 3D Program, but did you know it animates and renders 2D illustrator files just as well. with BONES as well!!!!!!!

And of course you could always just render 3d with a cell shade shader

Seems to still be in a very basic stage and lack a user base but its free!
