My first project

Hi everyone. I have had the pleasure of using this forum for some time without contributing my own work. I think that is about to change.

Here is my first crack at using AS (MH). This was done some time ago.

The next project is my first time using the software for professional reasons. All the images drawn in the GE intro was done in AS with the exception of the house and the GE logo. Everything else was done in AS, including hand drawing the type.

The last is a couple of characters I recently created. The animation and movement is bad. I just wanted to quickly create some movement for a demonstration I did earlier this year.

I do have to say that AS is the best vector program to illustrate in.

I hope you enjoy. More to come.

Thanks
S:)

Excellent work! Looking to see more!

I can't help but wonder about the backgrounds of the people who post here. I have artist background but never earn a living with it (Electronic Engineer/Technician). I would be enterest to knowing.

Background

Good question. I have always been into illustration. I graduated with a degree in Graphic Design from Maryland Institute College of Art. It is a small private college in Baltimore, Maryland. After that I just jumped into every aspect of the field. I have worked from agencies to TV stations doing about everything imaginable

I was bit by the animation bug 11 years ago and still love to create stuff. Currently I have been doing more illustration and storyboarding work for post houses in the area. 2D work comes through every once in a while which is awesome.

Recently I upgraded to Toon Boom Digital Pro and I am very excited about the product. I also can't wait for the new version of AS.

So what is your background?

Cheers

I was like many kids in my youth, sitting in from of a TV, watching cartoons. But when I was 11, I started making flip book animations on the back of my Dad's sales order books.

Although I eventually went into electronics, I still studied art and animation. I bought a 8mm camera and started making cutout animations.

When I was old enough to become a real animator, the industry was in the doldrums. So I remained in electronics.

Now I'm retired, with a computer and software and time to make whatever tickles my fancy. (And that's the shot story.)

I think there is a correlation between engineers and artists. My whole family are engineers and you should have seen their reaction when I wanted to go to art school. I think engineers and artists both share that part of the brain where they are always thinking about deconstructing and disecting things to get to the core.
