hey i just bought a modest graphic card for $50
geforce 7100 gs.

I only mention this because it really beefed up the
rendering process in AS. It used to take a while to
print just 10 seconds, but now it is much faster.

I am sure everyone knows this but I am the Studio Forum Idiot

Wait, i thought AS renders don't use the graphics cards acceleration?

I know photoshop, 3d apps, and other softs do, but i thought AS simply used software rendering?

Well, all I know is when I popped the card in it really improved
the rendering rate by about 10x.
It says it has 256 mb on board and
512 "supporting" so maybe it just uses
the memory in some clever way. It also
taps into windows x architecture, so who
knows what it does -- but it is faster! It also
allows for two monitors on the one card,
which is nice.

If your old card was integrated into the mobo, it's uses the systems memory. Now your new one most likely isn't using the system memory and therefor you're rendering more effectively.
