I made the first run-through of my animation. It'll need to be done afresh, but it gave me a good idea of how things worked.

Better with different depth scrolling. Better with that splash. And also very good the elastic camera travelling. Very cool.

Where did the small boat go?
To be consistent with the blow action of the white character, it should do the same during the back travel.

One suggestion. In the final, where all are happy (just before to focus only to the purple one) I will love to see also the sun behing (smiling). It was the one who gave the idea to solve the main problem.

LOVE IT!

Genete

BTW: I though at the begining it was a spam message... Britney Spears???

Better, definitely.

Minor adjustments: in any multiplane setting, clouds should move with the farthest level.

The sun is shown on the right in the first long shot, but on the left in the second. Should be in the left half of sky always.

I'm not sure if it would overdo, but maybe the water still can be improved. I remember several films where the water was done with multiple flat panes moved against each other, nad sometimes each pane consisted of a row of circles slowly turning - but this already sounds too complicated while I write it. At least some reflexes in the long shot, to suggest depth?

The whole thing lives (is there sound? I watched without), the characters made me smile. Go on!

thanks man!

I agree with the clouds, and I didn't even think of the Sun there. Nice one. Very good point - I never knew that, but now you mention it, it makes sense.

I think I know what you mean with the sea and rotating circles. I will consider that. I also think I know what you mean with multiple planes - they move in different rhythm with each other, the furthest plane being slightly darker. Nice.

No sound yet.

Alsom Genete, I wondered if anyone would notice the missing boat. Clearly someone did! ;) Also, I will include the sun smiling in the final shot.

Why Britney Spears? I ran out of names to call them. Silly I know. Maybe I should call it SPAM. he he

Very nice. You should submit this to Noggin lol (preschooler t.v. channel here in the states).

Thanks jhb. That's exactly the kind of people I want to sell it to once it's done. Thanks! ;) (I've emailed them with details of the show.)

Any other preschool TV stations/shows you can think of? I'd really appreciate all the help I can get. (We don't have a preschool channel here in South Africa. Well, we have one or two kids shows that I helped out with, but a lot of it's bought from the States.)

Cheers,

Mike

Soz slowtiger, I'm not exactly sure what you mean here. Please help me out a bit here by explaining reflexes?

Reflexes: just add some white spots here and there, think of sunlight on a water surface.

There are thousands of variations possible to animate water. It's just difficult to choose the perfect one for a certain style.

Ah! Reflection! I agree.

There ARE a lot of options. Trying something like this now, but still not quite right:

Anyhow, all those pointers are helluva useful, and thanks. Invaluable stuff.

Great design Mikdog. The characters are so happy they're demented. How about submitting this to the Nickelodeon animation film festival? You'd be a hero on the forum.

Hey Darth, thanks man, sounds like a great idea. Will def. look into that. I went to to the Comic Convention last year in San Diego, and this guy called Pen something had created a kids show called ADVENTURE TIME that I think was being animated and managed by Nickelodeon. Man, it was the funniest and most bizarre animation I've ever seen. Simple character designs, bizarre stories, but the whole thing was charming as hell. Also, saw a lot of other work being done by young animators for something like Nicktoons young animator something or the other. Great stuff, man.

;)

There's definitely a unique brand of madness in your humor. The way you describe adventure time is exactly how I would describe your work.

LOL! Thanks man, but really you gotta see this guy's animation ADVENTURE TIME for yourself. Incredible.

Anyway, big kudos for your props man. It helps a LOT.
