Flipping points of shape changes alignment of custom brush

I just discovered that if you create a shape and use a custom brush with align brush with curve set, and THEN you select the points of the shape and flip them the brush "flops" alignment.
For instance I have a custom brush for fuzzy hair. It has a "flat" edge and is set to align with curve so the "hair" sticks out.
When I flip the points the hair is "sticking in".
Point flipping a shape is "remembered".
I always had trouble with brush alignment in the past and now this explains it.
