Onion Skin Problem

I'm working on Tut 5.7-- and I'm not getting the Onion Skin to show me layer1 (when I'm on layer2)
Layer 2 is blank, -- no outline from Layer1

I'm pretty sure I need to be on Layer2 in order to draw --but the outline from Layer1 does not show... (as seen in the tut...)

Pix attached...

What am I doing wrong?

regards

I'm going to figure that you created layer 2 at frame 3, and that may be the problem. Creating new layers inside Switchlayers at other than frame zero is kind of a special case that's mostly been used for importing frame-by-frame (traditional) type animation. Since your new layer effectively doesn't even exist until frame 3, I think the Onion Skinning is interpreting that as nothing does yet. Maybe a glitch, I don't usually use that technique myself, but a good general rule is, unless you have a very specific reason to do otherwise, create all your new layers at frame zero.

I'll give that a try--- though the tut definately is telling me to make the new layer at frame 3 (or is it telling me to keyframe it there?) --a matter of interpretation perhaps... I'll try it your way and see...

thanks

Sorry, I haven't looked at the tuts for a while now, so it's entirely possible I'm just wrong. Hate when that happens.

Im wondering,
Did you select the 1st layer on frame 1 (by right clicking on swtich layer and choosing layer one), making an onion skin on that frame (nice little blue box appears on the timeline), then on frame 3, doing the same but selecting layer 2?

When you select a layer by right clicking on the switch layer, it should make a keyframe automatically

sorry my description is crap..i just got home..tired :)

um, Are you using Anime Studio Pro or Standard?

Because...i hate to burst your bubble but..

Onion skins doesnt seem to be supported in the cheaper version..

please look at the timeline features..

I thought that neither were external scripts, but perhaps thats the problem. Dunno, I would figure that if extra scripts were unavailable, they just were. Not that they would non-transparently deny you access. Curious.

Well, the chop-up 'tween standard and Pro probably took a lot of the time we were waiting for it. Not unlikely theres a bit or 2 left over.
