how would a person go about designing flintstone style backgrounds? like with textures and gradients. i haven't been able to do this in moho.

Well, if you are talking about the original “Hanna-Barbera” design,
I presume they were all hand-drawn.

You could easily create something fairly similar directly in Moho (vector-art)
or draw them in another software and import them as “bitmaps”,

or draw them altogether on paper and scan them in via Photoshop.

You can use textures and gradients in Moho. Check ther tutorials.
