This looks like it's going to be a good animation package.

http://www.toonboom.com/products/symphony/

there's a bone type IK system in it, bone glue to join bones properly and all.

Released first quarter of 2005.

Something to keep your eye on.

Back when I discovered Moho, I started looking into what else was out there. I came across Toon Boom and its associated produtcts. Out of curiosity (because you'll notice they don't post the price) I got in touch with them about Opus. They were very nice and got back to me with a quote of around $5000 for a single seat. It may be good, but at that price it better come with a very low mortage and someone that rubs my feet after they got my tea for me! I think I'll stick with Moho.

5 grand?!
and i thought flash was ridicously overpriced.

what?? when you animate in it do they REALLY come to life out of your printer and become your slave or something?

Primarily I believe that it's in use by major 2d animation studios like the company that did The Triplets of Belllville. It's probably worth it to someone doing full on trad animation. It doesn't hurt either when you tell the producer that you need it and they just don't know any better. :)

Personally i'm a bit anti Toon-Boom and the other products because

1)Expensive for a piece of software, which another can do better (*cough* Moho)
2)Cluttered interface
3)steeeeeep learning curve
4)Tutorials are not well thought out, and aren't detailed enough
5).....errr...."they're being wannabes" (breaks into Spice Girls)
6)Has tools that you know you'll never use.

Sorry in advance, for my opinion.

Jeez, if Opus is 5 grand, I'd be afraid to ask what Symphony costs. Think I'll just stay with Moho and buy a car.

If Moho6 will cost $4999,- I will buy a gun a kill both Postality and Kdiddy13 (and the other 12 Kdiddy's in his family) for giving Lost Marble silly ideas.

Thanks a lot guys, no $19,- upgrade next time

Well, you can get the market by selling a few copies to the big-bucks folks, or a lot of 'em to a big pile. I suspect you ain't gonna have to shoot nobody.

I just got an email back form Toon Boom, it retial about $1250 USD. Which I still think is too much for a MoHo rip, so I'll just stick with moho.
