Hello there,

I'm currently working on a Rig with a loooooot of Reference Layers, and Moho starts to mess up the way it stores the data of the Original Layers.

2 examples :
1. I have a Reference Layer pointing to (supposed) Original Layer that was, well, a Reference Layer too (pointing to a real Original Layer this time).
2. I have another Reference Layer with no Original Layer at all...



Have you ever encountered this kind of bug ?

Is there a way to avoid these bugs, or to force Moho to set a Layer to be the Original of a specific Reference Layer ?

My guess would be a deleted original layer with a lag on Moho resetting the tag in the reference. I would assume saving and reopening the file would remove that tag and make it a regular layer.

If it is still operating as a reference of an existing layer, I would verify it in the Moho file's json code. Just in case it's an issue with the diagnostic tool.

If the original layer is deleted, then the referencing layer remains a Reference Layer and still points to the prior reference (by UUID). If you use "Break Layer Reference" then it removes that association.

Assuming the tool displays the layer name in the "Original Layer" field, it can only do that by a lookup of the UUID that is referenced by the Reference Layer. If either the original layer is missing/deleted or in an external file then a tool script currently has no way to determine the original layer name.

I haven't deleted the Original Layer, and it's still in the Project.
I'll take a look to the JSON file, thanks for the tip.


The Layer Inspector is OK, the issue comes from the layers, I've just checked in the JSON file.
I do have a REF layer with a positive layer_ref_same_doc value that has no layer_ref_uuid value.

I'm gonna try to see if Moho scripts allow to change the layer_ref_uuid value.
