Hi.

I'm new to Moho and trying to do an animation timed to music in 14 pro. However, when I play the audio, it stutters really hard. It's an uncompressed .wav and the program is showing a consistent 47 fps on playback, sometimes up to 61. Opening up an empty project and importing the audio sounds fine, but I noticed it stays at 24 fps on playback. Both the actual project and the empty one are set to 24 fps, so I'm not sure why there's a discrepancy, why the empty file would have a lower frame rate, or if it's even relevant. I also noticed that rendering it resulted in there being no audio at all. I haven't been able to find any information concerning the particular issue I've been having, so if anyone has a fix or ideas of what to try, I'd be happy to hear it.

Moho trying to run that much faster is new to me - usually the problem is that it runs too slow to audio. I have no idea, but can guess:
1. Check the audio file's sample rate. Usually one would work with 44.1 or 48 kHz files.
2. Convert the audio to AIFF and try again.

That's very unusual. Does it do this with every audio file, or just this particular one?

If it's only with this audio file, I suggest resaving it in a different format. Sometimes, simply resaving a troublesome file, even with the same settings, can fix issues.

Generally speaking, audio files I've recorded or downloaded have worked fine in Moho. I typically use 24-bit/48 kHz, .wav or .aiff, but the format/settings you use should depend on your workflow. For example, .wav seems to work more reliably for me across different programs, and I use 24/48 because they're cleanly divisible by 24 fps. (I'm not sure how much that matters in an animation program, but it was something I was told years ago. It may matter more for mixing at later stages in an editor.) Also, some programs work better with specific settings; I found that animating lip-syncing in Maya, for example, works best with 16-bit audio. Experiment to see what works best for you.

The one audio issue I experience with Moho is that the audio may stop working when there's been a lot of activity with other programs that also use audio. It's as if Moho loses its connection to the audio hardware while another program is using it and doesn't regain it. This also occurs when I switch between headphones and speakers. This isn't a huge problem, though, and restarting Moho usually corrects it.

Regarding playback speed, I occasionally encounter a fast playback sync issue, but Moho corrects itself when it loops back to the beginning. It's pretty rare, though. When the problem is slow playback, the animation setup or files may be too heavy to process. In this case, I enable Allow Frame Skipping, which drops frames to maintain normal playback, or I use Preview Animation to render a video clip to see every frame with normal playback. When the animation needs to be played back 'live' in the workspace, I'll reduce some of the display quality settings.
