bugs in particle layer

I recently working with particle layer and noticed 2 likely bugs:
1- when you set preview particle number it works just in frame zero but other frames it going to add up particles in viewport and make it useless.(it works well in moho 12 but buggy in newer versions)
2- if you animate the particle layer position for example moving it from right to left if "Free Floating" is on the particles will normally get behind the particle layer just like a locomotive moving and smoke gets behind BUT if orient particles is on they rotate in the direction of movement of particle layer . normally we expect particles orients back not to front. see video below. this behavior make no sense

Like this?

Particles in Moho are fairly limited compared to systems like Red Giant Particular, and you may need to get creative with the settings to make it do exactly what you want. (Actually, that's been true for me with pretty much EVERY particle and dynamics system I've used.) :D

If this is not exactly what you're trying to achieve, I may need another example.

Hope this helps.

Thank you my friend. . I could achieve the same results but I wonder about the logic of particles.
Have you seen that strange targeting Smart bone problem.

I'll make tutorials about how I used Moho Particles. Moho's particle system may be simple compared to what I've used in compositing and 3D programs, but it's still capable of a lot! I also have some ideas for combining Particles with some of Moho 14's new features.

I'll take a look later today. :)

sorry to bump but why does the particle layers sometimes do short burst?

Hi,

In Moho's particle system, I believe randomization in the emission rate is always present by default. I don't think there's a way to make it emit at a constant rate, if that's what you mean. (But if anyone knows how to do this, please share!)

Do you have a specific example that you're having trouble with? Depending on the effect you're going for, Moho may have other ways to create the effect. For example, I sometimes use Scatter Brush with Follow Path to simulate a particle effect, but with more control over the animation. (Well, maybe not more but different control anyway.) Using regular Moho Physics is another way. (Our short film Space Tommy: Mission Critical uses these techniques all over the place, as well as regular Moho Particles. When I made this short, I tried to stick to Moho-only features as much as possible.)

When I need greater control over the emitter and particles, I may switch to a particle system in a compositing program (like AE or Fusion) or use a 3D animation program (Blender, LightWave, etc.,), and composite the effect with my Moho animations.
