Hey there,

I added an element to my turn charchter on a new layer using the add points tool and then the create shape function.
Anyhow i must have pressed the latter twice or so as i now have two shapes on top of each other. To one Iassigned a stroke, the other one is empty and not needed. I would like to delete it because it is unnecessary and the blue line is visible in the preview.
I see both shapes in the dropdown of the styles menu. Now I just have to figure out how I can delete the unwanted one. I can select it through the Shapes menue but then not delete it because I have to switch to the select points tool for that. And then I always automatically select the shape i want to keep.

Is there any solution for my problem? Like a shortcut that selects all points of a selected shape (If seleted as shape with the red square around).

Update to clarify: I actually do want to delete the Shape in the sense of all the bezier points. Im not just searching an option to delete the Fill-Shape (Which I could do with the delete shape tool)

So, you mean you have two identical Curves welded together, not two Shapes on top of each other. These are very different situations.

I'm not sure I've run into this one before, but I was able to create it here. I'll let you know if I figure out a solution.

Ok, I think this can help:

Use the Delete Edge tool, and carefully click on each edge where you think you have stacked edges. If there is a stacked edge, you will see the underlying edge after you click with the tool. When there is no edge visible, press Undo. This is the remaining Curve edge. Do not click on a Point. (See note below.)

You'll need to click on each edge between every two points.

It shouldn't matter which edge remains because if they're connected by the same two points, there should be no difference. But if you're using Bezier Points, the handles might need to be readjusted. It's a guess, but I think that will be the case.

Afterward, you'll need to recreate the shape and apply the Style. If you make a duplicate of the Shape before you start deleting its edges, you can sample the Style from that duplicate Shape.

FYI, there shouldn't be stacked Points. When two points are welded as described, there is only a single point at that location. Edges, on the other hand, can be stacked as you found.

I looked into it and tried the delete edge tool method. After some time i was able to solve my "Problem" another way...



I wanted to Keep S5 & 6 but wanted to delete S1. It was wrongfilly created when drawing the shape and lay right over S6.
At the end of the day I didnt fully understand Shape order, shape select tool and first and foremost the delete shape tool. I tried it with this tool last time but guess i had S6 in the foreground and therefore didnt sucseed in deleting it. ...
Looking back its very clear and I think I could have maybe found out. But i coudnt, and finally came back with your suggestion and then could.
So thanks a lot for being so helpful again! Thats really awesome!

If you don't already have it, check out Rai's Shapes Window. This tool shows a layer's shapes inside an editable list form (like the Layers Window, but for Shapes,) which can make it easier to troubleshoot problems like this.
