it would be cool if we could make true 3d text, that is: it actually has depth
This is currently possible using the new 3D import feature. Wings 3D, for example, can import .ai files and convert them into objects. Will qualify that by saying I just tested it once, out of curiosity, before posting this. It also appears to support text internally, but that feature didn't work in my install (Mac OS X Jaguar). Will have to look into that later.
