Animated line boil on untextured brush

Hi there!

I want to do the animated line boil thing but only when the character moves meaning setting the interval to 0 in the brush settings for the boil. Now i wanted to actually replicate an old-school flash line but while it works with brushes that have a bitmap applied to them it doesn't work on the "None" setting – all the options are greyed out. I then tried the old school way of doing it via the layer settings of all vector layers but there i can't set it to just boil on Movement.

I tried it also via importing a single black dot as a png in the usual 512x512 resolution so i could get a minimalist brush but no matter what it always turns out fuzzy looking in render.

Someone on the Discord told me they had the same issue when trying it with a svg.

Any ideas?

Depends on exactly what you are aiming for.. but a simple-ish line using the stock Brush509

Thanks for the Tip SimpleSam.

I've tried it with the brush you've mentioned, unfortunately with the same result when pressing CMD+R and looking at the render...

I think it has mainly to do with how Moho does Anti-Aliasing. Here's the same Render with no brush applied at 400%

I've tried blurring the image file i've been using but doesn't help much either :(

Yeah, there is a problem with antialiasing and brushes. You have more info about it here: viewtopic.php?t=36417

Sadly the conclussion is that thin lines will always tend to look bad (pixelated, not correctly antialiased) in random parts of the line. You have to use thicker lines or increase the project resolution quite a lot to 4k or 8k so your thin lines are not that thin and then downscale the images (if you need to) for them to look good. So at the end, for most styles that don't use thick lines I have to avoid using brushes and sadly line boil too. I hope we can get this fixed soon because the boiling feature is very useful, super convincing for a FBF look. But we need a fix for brushes antialiasing or a boiling that works with vectors.
