How much ram do you recommend for this?

Still new and maybe this is a dumb question but I am working with 8 gb. I haven't started rendering yet but I want to use the 4k digital to get the best picture and something tells me my little laptop isn't going to be able to handle it. I am thinking 32 gb but before I do it I thought I would ask this forum.

And a second tangentially related question:
When you render if you go into a close up it is only rendering what's in the blue rectangle, right? so if I have a large background that I zoom into I am only rendering what's on screen, not the whole big picture the whole time?
Thank you so much

2.: Yes, only what's inside gets rendered.

1. I work on an 8 GB machine right now with no difficulties, but it's a Mac Pro, not a laptop. I've done 4K for some tests, it worked, but I'd recommend to go for a desktop machine with as much RAM and disc space and a fat graphic card if you really want to do 4K.
